Capello concerned of Rooneys temper
Filed Under England | Leave a Comment
Wayne Rooney was close to be sent off after a redicelous tackle in the friendly against USA and this temper concerns England coach Fabio Capello.
“I have to keep him on the pitch for 90 minutes so I have to speak to him,” said Capello. “I have to explain to him that he must not do these tackles.
“I saw the same thing from him in training. On Tuesday in the last session, it was the same. It is normal for him and I told him that. But I was worried for the other players. I like that desire, yes. Great players work with good quality but they also run hard and do not fear making a tackle.
“You cannot play without commitment and when you need to play, with that commitment, you tackle very hard. That is something he showed. But both those tackles were possible yellow cards.”

England defated USA with 2-0 in a friendy-game at Wembley yesterday. This was a match where Rooney should impress Capello in his new role as a center-target. How did it go? According to The Guardian who gave him a 5 in rating not very well.
From The Guardian:
“Wayne Rooney, 5
Radar askew for much of the first-half, he struggled to pick passes while his touch was heavy. Booked in the second half for a reckless challenge.”
Did you watch the match? Do you agree with The Guardian?

New role for Rooney in England
Filed Under England | 3 Comments
Tonight we will see Wayne Rooney in a new role for his England playing against USA at Wembley. Capello have decided to play him as a target player behind a striker.
“In my opinion, his best position is as a central striker, just behind the person who plays up front,” Capello says.
“That way he can play with his face to the goal rather than his back. You need someone more advanced but then have someone who can move around him. It is good for Wayne because he knows he must score more goals.”

England were left devastated after the 2-1 lose to Russia this afternoon. Rooney put England ahead with a spectacular 29th-minute volley in the first half in a game that they dominated. Steven Gerrard missed a great chance to put them 2-0 up, before Rooney fouled Konstanin Zurianov leading to a penalty and a yellow card. Zurianov put away the penalty on 69 mins and then scored again 4 mins later, after an error by Paul Robinson.
