The FA may consider action against Liverpool after a fan attempted to throw a golf ball at Wayne Rooney during the club’s 1-0 home defeat to Manchester United. Fortunately the ball did not hit him, but it could have been serious if it had.

Rooney to captain United

Wayne Rooney will captain Manchester Utd in their final group game of the Champions League tomorrow night. They are already assured of their first place position, and Roma their oppenents have already booked second place. It gives Ferguson a chance to play his younger team. Rooney, only 22 will be one of the most senior players tomorrow night and Ferguson will be happy to give his young star the captains arm band.

“He’s been pestering me for ages to get his chance (as captain),” joked Ferguson. “He’s developing all the time. He’s had some disruptions with injuries but he’s developed very fast. He’s coming on really well, just as we hoped he would when he joined us as a young lad.”

Rooney may need new agent

In June 2005, the FA charged Wayne Rooney’s agent, Paul Stretford with offences relating to how he came to represent the England and Manchester Utd star.

Since then, Stretford’s legal team have been trying to challenge the disciplinary processes, claiming they breach his human rights.
However, now an independent arbitrator has said that his case should be heard before any further debate about problems with the system. It could mean suspension of his licence and that Rooney has to find a new agent….Any offers?

The main charge was for “stealing” Rooney from his orginal agent Peter McIntosh 5 years ago.

Opta have studied Tevez’s form with and without Rooney this season and the results seem to confirm that without the Rooney, Carlos is lost.

In the six matches they have played together, Tevez has scored four times, converting a quarter of his chances.

But in seven matches without Rooney, the former West Ham player has failed to hit the back of the net.

MARADONA: Rooney has more potential than KAKA

Diego Maradona believes Rooney deserved the “world footballer of the year” title just as much as Kaka.

“I don’t know too well how the election is done but I think that Rooney is better than Kaka,” Maradona explained in El Grafico.

“Milan is a team that depends all the time on Kaka but that doesn’t make him the best player in the world.”

It was a great compliment for Rooney by the football legend.
